“GrandmaChic: a brand and identity for a French Vietnamese restaurant in Austin.”
“Elizabeth Street Cafe marries French, Vietnamese and Austin food culture. The brand identity addresses every detail as a family of graphic components, as opposed to a logo to be replicated. The identity does double duty supporting the brand as a boulangerie in the morning and transforming to a noodle house in the afternoon and evening.
The heavy use of pattern fields and blended typefaces suggests the number of ingredients to be found in the dishes. Subtle acts of subversion can be found, like placing French iconography in places usually reserved for Asian art references.”
